About the Gala

The JASS Benefit Gala 2022 "Swing It!" will be held on Saturday, 30 April 2022.

In support of Singapore jazz, gala guests will be treated to a specially-curated dinner accompanied by performances by two of Singapore’s foremost jazz and pop stars Nathan Hartono and Joanna Dong, alongside JASS co-founder and Singapore’s “King of Swing,” Jeremy Monteiro with the JASS orchestras.

We are making the Gala a triple celebration by combining this 2022 Singapore edition with Jeremy's milestone 45th career-anniversary and UNESCO International Jazz Day.

UNESCO International Jazz Day falls on 30th April, the day of our gala, and celebrates jazz’s role of uniting people from around the world. In light of the upheavals the world has experienced over the last two years, there seems no better time than now to highlight jazz’s capacity for bringing people together, as well as JASS’ role in uplifting the Singapore community and bringing comfort to our global audiences through our music.

Our efforts to spread the joy of jazz are more imperative now than ever. Funds raised will help us in our various programmes to:

  • lift the Singapore jazz scene through a core pool of distinguished local jazz musicians

  • nurture young local jazz talents

  • fund local and international jazz scholarships to deserving local youth musicians

  • bring jazz to people all over Singapore and promote interaction and cohesion among our diverse communities

  • showcase Singapore jazz to the world through international performances and collaborations

  • encourage inclusiveness by reaching out to the underserved through the universal language of jazz; and

  • support eligible local jazz musicians impacted by crisis with short-term financial aid

In view of the prevailing safe management guidelines, the Gala is currently planned as a virtual event with intentions to switch to a hybrid or live event, should circumstances allow.
