A Decade of Dreams, JASS turns 10!

The JASS Benefit Gala 2026 will take place on Saturday, 26 September 2026, exactly 10 years after JASS was founded, at the Shangri-La Singapore, Island Ballroom.

This year, Jazz Association (Singapore) celebrates our 10th anniversary. What began as a dream, anchored in a shared belief in the transformative power of jazz, has grown into a vibrant ecosystem of performances, education, youth development, and community impact. This journey would not have been possible without steadfast friends like you.

To mark this occasion, we warmly invite you to the JASS Benefit Gala 2026: ”When You Wish Upon A Star – A Decade of Dreams”, promising to be an unforgettable evening of music, meaning and joy.

We are honoured to welcome Teresa Carpio as our Special Guest. An iconic voice whose artistry has touched generations, Teresa is celebrated worldwide for her Canto-English pop repertoire, yet her musical roots are deeply infused with jazz, shaped by the Carpio family’s enduring presence in the regional jazz scene.

The evening will feature the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra (JASSO), led by Music Director Jeremy Monteiro, together with Deputy Music Directors Chok Kerong and Tan Weixiang. A special performance by our Jazz Association Singapore Youth Orchestra (JASSYO!) will also showcase the high standards and promise of our next generation of musicians.

Your generosity continues to shape the heart of JASS. Through your strong support, we are able to:

  • Empower the next generation of jazz musicians by awarding JASS Music Scholarships to 12 young talents pursuing jazz degrees in Singapore and abroad

  • Nurture future talent and widen access to jazz through platforms such as the JASS Spotlight Series, Lion City Jazz Festival, and the newly launched JASS Junior—sparking curiosity, creativity, and improvisation from an early age

  • Bring jazz into the heart of the community, reaching people from all walks of life across Singapore through inclusive performances, outreach programmes, and educational initiatives that connect, inspire, and uplift

  • Elevate artistic excellence and cultural exchange, growing audiences locally and representing Singapore on the international stage through cultural diplomacy

  • Extend care and solidarity to our music community through the JASS Support Fund, providing timely assistance to musicians facing illness or hardship

The JASS Benefit Gala is our most important annual fundraising event. As an Institution of a Public Character (IPC), donations by Singapore tax residents are eligible for a 250% tax deduction.

We would be very grateful to have you join us as we celebrate a decade of music, mentorship, and community, and as we look ahead to the next chapter of jazz in Singapore.

Thank you for believing in the arts, especially in jazz and JASS!

Stars of the Evening

Since 2016, we have been shaping the future of jazz in Singapore — nurturing talent and building a vibrant community.

A Constellation of Memorable Nights

Each JASS Benefit Gala has brought together artistry, community, and generosity in its own unforgettable way. Over the years, these evenings have become luminous milestones in the story of Singapore jazz.

From beloved standards and iconic guest artists to landmark celebrations and bold new themes, every gala has added another star to the JASS journey.

Since 2016, we have been shaping the future of jazz in Singapore — nurturing talent and building a vibrant community.

Jazz Association (Singapore), or JASS, was founded in September 2016 to promote participation, engagement, and excellence in jazz in Singapore. Since then, JASS has grown into a leading force for jazz education, outreach, and artistic development in Singapore, while also championing Singapore jazz on a global stage. JASS received charity status in March 2017, holds Institution of Public Character status until 22 May 2027, and became an NAC Major Company on 1 April 2021.

Born from the vision and passion of Professor Jeremy Monteiro and fellow jazz advocates, JASS was established with a clear purpose: to build a stronger, more vibrant jazz ecosystem in Singapore, and to ensure that jazz remains accessible, relevant, and inspiring for generations to come.
