About the Gala
With the easing of safe management guidelines, the Jazz Association (Singapore) (JASS) Benefit Gala 2022 is now planned as a live event, and will be held on Sunday, 31 July 2022, at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.
In celebration of Singapore jazz, gala guests will be treated to a specially-curated dinner accompanied by performances by two of Singapore’s foremost jazz and pop stars, Nathan Hartono and Joanna Dong, alongside JASS co-founder and Singapore’s “King of Swing,” Jeremy Monteiro with the Jazz Association Singapore orchestras.
This year’s gala will be a triple celebration– celebrating Jeremy Monteiro’s 45th career-anniversary, the 121st birthday of jazz legend and father of modern jazz, Louis Armstrong, and JASS’s upcoming 6th anniversary celebration.
The gala is also a time to highlight jazz’s ability to unite people, bring out its spirit of improvisation and resilience, and more importantly, to reinforce JASS’s role in promoting jazz in Singapore through our music. We invite you to join JASS to “Swing It!” together to celebrate the human spirit of jazz.
With the support of our donors and partners, JASS has remained steadfast in our mission to promote jazz in Singapore despite the continuing challenges brought about by the pandemic. Funds raised will help us in our various programmes to:
-
lift the Singapore jazz scene through a core pool of distinguished local jazz musicians
-
nurture young local jazz talents
-
fund local and international jazz scholarships to deserving local youth musicians
-
bring jazz to people all over Singapore and promote interaction and cohesion among our diverse communities
-
showcase Singapore jazz to the world through international performances and collaborations
-
encourage inclusiveness by reaching out to the underserved through the universal language of jazz; and
-
support eligible local jazz musicians impacted by crisis with short-term financial aid
