Since 2016, we have been shaping the future of jazz in Singapore — nurturing talent and building a vibrant community.
Jazz Association (Singapore), or JASS, was founded in September 2016 to promote participation, engagement, and excellence in jazz in Singapore. Since then, JASS has grown into a leading force for jazz education, outreach, and artistic development in Singapore, while also championing Singapore jazz on a global stage. JASS received charity status in March 2017, holds Institution of Public Character status until 22 May 2027, and became an NAC Major Company on 1 April 2021.
Born from the vision and passion of Professor Jeremy Monteiro and fellow jazz advocates, JASS was established with a clear purpose: to build a stronger, more vibrant jazz ecosystem in Singapore, and to ensure that jazz remains accessible, relevant, and inspiring for generations to come.
Vision and Mission
Building Artistic Excellence.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Connecting Artists and Audiences.

Fostering International Collaboration
JASS works to make Singapore a meaningful nexus for collaboration between Singaporean and international jazz musicians. Through these exchanges, we expand opportunities, deepen artistic dialogue, and position Singapore more strongly within the global jazz landscape.
Growing Singapore as a City of Jazz
We are committed to developing Singapore into a vibrant city for jazz, for Singaporeans, residents, and visitors alike. This means cultivating audiences, creating platforms for performance, and helping jazz become a visible and valued part of Singapore’s cultural identity.
Supporting Musicians in Times of Need
In July 2020, JASS added a vital pillar to its work: supporting eligible local jazz musicians impacted by crisis through short-term financial aid. This reflects our commitment not only to artistic excellence, but also to the wellbeing and sustainability of the jazz community.
